Tim, father of the founder, doing what he loved, being a firefighter
In 2017, Meaghan received a text message from her mother stating that she wanted to pick her up early from school. Meaghan told her that she only has 30 minutes left and if it could wait, in which her mother replied it could not. That was the day where Meaghan felt as though her world was falling apart. Her mother told her that her father had passed away. In pain, Meaghan fell into a deep depression and completely shut the world around her down. Meaghan went on to graduate high school and Vo-Tech, becoming a CNA for the state of Pennsylvania. After almost a year in an abusive relationship, Meaghan was rescued and shown how much fun life can be by her now fiancé. With his support, and the support of her friends and family, Meaghan wanted to do something to carry on her father's legacy. In 2018, Meaghan had the idea to start a non-profit in her father's name to help spread awareness around first responder mental health, educate the importance of mental health, and to give back to the first responder.
Tim's House for First Responders has a goal to lower the suicide statistics in all first responder fields, respectively.
We hope to achieve this through education, awareness, and assisting first responders with the steps needed to gaining assistance in regards to mental health services.
Through fundraisers and your generous donations, Tim's House continues to pay for copays for medications and psychiatrist appointments.
Please remember, we are not mental health professionals, but we are dedicated to forming the support system that those may feel they lack when it comes to seeking mental help.
